Aliança Navegacao E LOGISTICA

 Aliança Navegacao E LOGISTICA

The history of Aliança Navegacao e LOGISTICA is inextricably linked with the history of Brazilian commercial shipping. Founded in 1950 by German Karl Fischer Aliança started with only one ship transporting fruit between Brazil and Argentina.

With Aliança, Karl Fischer became the only private company at that time offering coaster services.  Reinforced by the philosophy of reinvesting profits and constant modernization, the company achieved accelerated growth in 1959 by taking 50% of the Brazilian market in chilled beef shipments between Brazil and Argentina thus strengthening its presence in Mercosur.

Between 1965 and 1991, the company ordered 30 vessels, most in Brazil.

In 1967, Aliança, considered the largest private coastal shipping company, began its international shipping activities to European ports on the Atlantic.  After 1991, it was further expanded to include the American market.

In 1998, the Oetker Group, which owns Hamburg Süd, acquired Aliança.  Further, the company's operations increased due to the inclusion of new routes linking the Gulf of Mexico to Europe, Central America, the Caribbean, Asia and Brazil.  In August 1999, seeing the growing opportunities in cabotage, Aliança was the first investor in the container shipping market between the ports of Brazil.
