A resident of Primorye was sentenced to three years and six months in a general regime colony for participating in a group that intended to illegally export parts of rare animals from Russia, including bear paws, in the amount of 50 million rubles.

According to the verdict handed down by the Khankai District Court, the accused must also pay a fine of 1.3 million rubles, it is reported on website The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

Investigators have established that the gang was created in January last year for the purpose of illegal transportation of goods across the border of the Customs Union in the framework ofThe EAEU. At the time of their detention, "879 paws and 306 claws of Himalayan and brown bears, their other parts, the skin, skeleton and claws of the Amur tiger, raw amber weighing more than 1 kg, weapons and ammunition" were seized from them.

In addition, the woman, whose name is not specified, provided her accommodation for the group members, as well as engaged in the purchase, storage and transportation of goods. Her criminal case was considered in a special order due to a pre-trial cooperation agreement. The investigation into the other defendants continues.
