A briefing was held at Birobidzhan Customs. Acting Deputy head of Customs Sergey Filatov told reporters about law enforcement activities. 

Since the beginning of 2018, Birobidzhan Customs has initiated 177 administrative cases against individuals, 137 cases against legal entities and individual entrepreneurs and 80 cases against officials. 

Of the total number of administrative cases, 219 were initiated under articles causing significant damage to the economic interests of the country (Articles 16.1, 16.2, 16.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation). The share of such offenses was 55.6%.

The main subjects of administrative offenses were timber, alcohol and cigarettes, aquatic biological resources (trepang), consumer goods.

Birobidzhan Customs officers initiated 5 criminal cases in January-October 2018. For the same period of 2017 – 6. In 2018, criminal cases were initiated for attempts to illegally move timber, biological resources (trepang), potent substances across the customs border, as well as for non-return of funds from abroad in foreign currency.
